Recent data suggest that up to 60% of US public high schoolers never receive any college counseling. NONE. In fact, at most public high schools, the average student-to-counselor ratio is 476:1. This means that students are getting virtually no personal advising when it comes to their decision about college - likely the second largest expense your family will incur after the purchase of your home.

Sadly, the current college admissions process is convoluted confusing, and changes every single year. Navigating the different rules and requirements for each college (not to mention the many different systems) can be daunting.
My goal as a college counselor is to educate in a way that will help alleviate some of the stress surrounding this process. I truly believe that breaking this process into bite-size chunks and starting early are the keys to success. In addition, students can take control of the cost of admission by crafting strategic college lists that maximize merit awards. This understanding is key to maximizing your college Return on Investment.
Through years of experience, I’ve developed a proven college advising curriculum that has helped hundreds of students find their perfect college fit—one that is academically, financially, and socially right for them. I deliver this curriculum in two ways:
One-on-one advising for students who come to me early in their high school career.
Small group classes via live Zoom for students later in high school as they approach the application process.
To help more students navigate this confusion, I occasionally offer short boot camps. This August, I'm hosting a 2-Day College Application Boot Camp. The course will cover:
Essay writing
Common App guidance
Ways to maximize scholarships
Creating college lists
Securing recommendation letters
Project planning for applications

If you have a Class of 2025 student and feel overwhelmed by the college admissions process, consider joining my August Boot Camp!
Good luck to all the rising seniors & hope to see you at the bootcamp,
Jen
